DURING COVID

I’d finished the First Four Murals and wanted to work larger, but could not in my home studio. I was feeling hemmed in. Who wasn’t? So I went searching for a space. I found one in a professional building in Lahaina, signed a three year lease and was able to pin up long pieces of 60 inch paper. Before I began on the murals I spent many months making smaller pieces for a Solo Show I was offered at the Hui Noeau Art Center on Maui.

Trapped at home, I thought about people hanging out together but really being alone with their thoughts. and abou the objects that are essential to me. scanned a number of my life drawings, arranged and printed them on sixteen 20x30 pieces of paper. I began using colored pencils to render the essentials in the spaces between the figures.
